Eyeshadow for Brown Eyes

Brown eyes are the most dominant genetic trait resulting in a whopping 55% of the worlds population sporting some variation of the sultry color. Brown eyes have a natural “bedroom eye” look to them before even applying makeup which is why I consider them to be one of the sexiest eye colors out there. And with eyes that sultry, you are going to want to show them off! Which is why I am going to tell you which eyeshadow colors to use to make those big brown eyes truly stand out.

Brown Eyes: Blue is opposite from brown on the color wheel which means that it is the most flattering color against your eyes. Blue tends to make brown eyes look a shade lighter and brighter. I know most people think that since we are out of the 80’s, blue eyeshadow is no longer en vogue but I beg to differ. Sure, the powder blue shimmer applied from your lash line to brow bone is a thing of the past but there are tons of ways to work blue into your routine without looking dated. Choosing a grey or gunmetal with a blue undertone is an easy and relatively neutral way to wear blue. You can also use a little pop of a soft silvery-blue in the inner corner or center of your eyelid to create a color contrast. My favorite way to add in blue when working on brown eyes, is by lining the inner upper rim of the eye with a royal or dark blue color. This puts the blue as close to your eyes as it can get and makes the color less noticeable but everyone will wonder what you did to make your eyes look so vibrant. So don’t be afraid, go ahead and pick up some blue shadow or liner next time you are shopping for makeup. You will be glad that you did!

You have to see it to believe it

Ms. M came to Belle Boudoir to celebrate two momentous occasions in her life. Not only had she lost 156 pounds and kept it off for 10 years, but she was also turning 50! She chose Belle Boudoir to help her capture these special moments in time. She loved Cheryl Jones’ portfolio and the preparation guide she sent out to help Ms. M prepare for her session.

When Ms. M arrived at the Belle Boudoir studio she was greeted by Nikoma, our resident hair and makeup artist. “Nikoma’s smile and enthusiasm instantly relaxed me and it was so much fun to watch her transform me with her skillful makeup application.” When her hair and makeup were finished, she felt excited seeing the final result and was elated with her OWN before and after images.

Seeing the final images took Ms. M’s breath away. It was “truly one of the ‘you have to see it to believe it’ experiences in life.” She is proud of the her courage to go through with her session and left the studio feeling deeply feminine, saying that coming to Belle Boudoir was “the most loving thing (she has) ever done for (her)self.” Ms. M “Hope(s) to inspire all of the women in (her) life to reclaim and celebrate their femininity and sexiness through a boudoir session, wether for themselves or a special person in their life.” We loved having Ms. M in the studio for her boudoir session and hope that the uplifting feelings she left the studio with will stay with her forever.

Loving these photos SO MUCH

Nikoma and I got an email this morning with the subject “Loving these photos SO MUCH” from a client who received her book about a week ago. I was so moved that I asked to share her email and a few photos from her shoot. Thanks Ms T for letting us!

I love these photos so much, you have no possible idea. It’s been wonderful. Beyond wonderful. When I decided to do this, I knew I was feeling super down and that I wanted to try to do something to help me feel better about myself and my body. I mean, I’ve never really felt like I was capable of being sexy before. Certainly never as a guy, and I hadn’t gotten there before since my transition — I was feeling awkward about looking trans, about the weight, and so on. And now, between working out steadily for the past two months improving my conditioning and having the chance to see myself as beautiful like this, even though not much has changed about how I look, *everything* has changed about how I feel about it. I mean, I’m still a 400 pound trans woman, but I feel like the hottest goddamn 400 pound trans woman to ever walk the earth.

I took the book in to show my therapist, and ended up showing the other women in her office who I know too, including my previous therapist, who remembers me as this super-withdrawn lump on her couch from a while before I started transitioning. I’ve also shown it to a couple of other people like my apartment complex manager, who has enough of a daring streak that I knew she’d appreciate it. And I’ve shared a few of them with a close online friend or two. Everyone was completely blown away, it was great!

I, um, may or may not also have shared a couple of pics with a guy or two. And it’s awesome the reactions I get. I’m having so much fun with life right now, and I’ve started going on dates. And when I do, I’m honest to God feeling like a sex kitten! :3

So whenever you recall the good things that have come from your work, I hope you’ll think about how happy I am and how much better I’m doing.

How the French maintain their luscious locks

Not only have the French adopted a more laid-back lifestyle than most Americans, they are also more relaxed about washing their hair on a regular basis. Parisian hair legend, Jacques Dessange developed a hair washing method that allows strands to look beautifully tousled for several days between washes. In fact, shampoo sales in france are significantly lower than in America. Sound too good to be true? Give it a try for yourself!

Step 1: Apply a mask to your hair and allow it to penetrate for a few minutes depending on the condition of your hair.

Step 2: Thoroughly rinse out the hair mask

Step 3: Shampoo and rinse (cool water is best to close the hair cuticle)

Step 4: Blow dry style your hair

Your hair should remain shiny, bouncy, and perfectly tousled for 3-7 days before your next shampoo.

xo,

Nikoma

Why clean hair?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last hundred years, you know you’re supposed to have dirty hair whenever you’re going to have it styled for a special occasion. You’ve heard it enough times that you have to believe it’s true. Right? With all of the incredible technological advances in haircare and styling products, that just isn’t true anymore. The natural oils in your hair can weigh it down and make creating the voluminous, bouncy, sexy hairstyles that work so well with boudoir photography a near impossible feat. So go ahead treat yourself to a luxurious shampoo and deep conditioning treatment the night before your photoshoot. Then simply sit back, relax, and leave the rest to our incredible stylist(s). You’ll be glad you did.
