Hair and Makeup Touch-Up’s During Your Session

71784c79bab2b38def539cc2f42b4105(pp w480 h319) Hair and Makeup Touch Ups During Your SessionOccasionally we have women in the studio who are nervous that their hair and makeup won’t stay put throughout their session with Belle Boudoir. They are used to putting on their makeup in the morning, looking in the mirror at lunch time, and realizing that it has all slid off throughout the day. But, many women don’t know that there are tricks to ensuring that your makeup stays, not only through your photoshoot but also for the day. Our makeup artist, Nikoma, uses primers under your eye makeup and foundation and uses waterproof or water-resistant products wherever possible. Her makeup skills have stood the test of time under the hot lights of the studio and beyond. However, even makeup isn’t magic, and your lip color is bound to come off, de-shine, or lighten up before the end of your session. Therefore, the one thing we highly recommend that you bring with you is your favorite lipgloss or lipstick to touch up with during your session. Don’t worry if the one you bring isn’t the same as what you and your makeup artist decide on initially – it will just give you a little more variety in your photos. After all, isn’t variety the spice of life?

A Grooms Gift and Beyond

A Grooms Gift and BeyondSeveral months ago Ms. A came to Belle Boudoir for help creating the best grooms gift she could think of- one of our exquisite Bedside Table Books. (Click Here to see an example) Ms.A met her now husband in College while working at one of the football games. It was a story you would only hear in a Rom-Com from the 90’s; Their eyes met, sparks flew, and they became instantly inseparable. Following college, Ms. A’s now husband was drafted to play professional baseball and when that career took him on the road, she went with him. It may sound glamorous but being constantly on the road will put any relationship to the test and these two passed with flying colors. Fast forward to November of 2014 and this beautiful couple walked down the aisle together.

Once Ms. A settled on giving her fiancé boudoir images as a grooms gift, she then had to decide where to have it done. The moment she clicked on the Belle Boudoir website, Ms. A knew it was the right studio for her. The gorgeous images, thorough information, and attention to detail were what sold her. So, Ms. A booked her appointment with us and anxiously awaited her session date.

As most women are, Ms. A was both nervous and excited leading up to her boudoir session. ” I  mean, hello. I’ll be standing there almost naked with a complete stranger taking pictures of me! … I have no clue how to be sexy, I am much too reserved to have ever even felt like I was capable of it.  However, that completely disappeared after sitting in (hair and makeup artist) Nikoma’s chair for just a few minutes. She put me so at ease and had me excited and laughing in no time. After my hair and makeup was completed (AKA I felt like a Victoria’s Secret Angel) I met Cheryl to start my shoot and didn’t have an ounce of anxiety.”

“Everything was so much fun. I loved getting all dolled up with Nikoma because she is hilarious and so personable, plus I felt so glamorous after! I also really liked taking pictures with Cheryl, she made me feel so at ease and told me exactly what to do with my body, which relieved a lot of stress from me. But then there is the picture reveal at the end and of course that is so much fun too! I could barely pick between pictures, they were all so amazing! All in all I loved every aspect of my day, it was perfect.”

When I asked Ms. A what she took away from her experience with Belle Boudoir, she responded by saying ” I had looked at tons of Cheryl’s work before coming in, so I knew what her and Nikoma were capable of, but you really never understand just how amazing they are until you get your own pictures back. Walking out of the studio I felt confident, sexy, and completely on top of the world… Nothing has ever boosted my confidence quite like my experience at Belle Boudoir has. I was also giddy with excitement over my gift, I knew my hubby was going to love it!”

Ms. A. loved her experience with Belle Boudoir so much that she booked bridal portrait session with us following her wedding and plans to return for another boudoir photoshoot sooner than later! We loved having Ms. A in studio and couldn’t be more excited to have her back in studio.

Eyeliner for Almond Eyes

I love almond shaped eyes because of their versatility. You can have larger or smaller almond shaped eyes. They can be up-turned, downturned, or simply straight across. Because of the versatility you have with almond eyes, you have plenty of play room when it comes to eyeliner and the shape you choose should depend on the amount of drama you are looking for and how much lid space shows when your eyes are open. Less lid space means that you want a thinner line as to not make your eyes smaller, while more lid space gives you the option to go thick or thin. In my opinion, the most flattering eyeliner for an almond eye will accentuate the shape by starting with a thin line in the inner upper corner of the eye that gets gradually thicker as you approach the outer part of the eye. A wing at the end of your eye is optional but will elongate your eyes if you feel that you have small eyes or if they are close set. You will also benefit from a slight wing on the outer corner of your eye if your almond shape is downturned as it will give you a nice lift.

If you have almond shaped eyes, consider yourself to be among the blessed folk and bask in the versatility available to you. Go ahead and try something new today and add a little wing to your liner. What’s the worst that could happen? Eyeliner for Almond Eyes

60lbs and 24 years later…

Like most women do, Ms. J did her research before booking a boudoir session at Belle Boudoir. She researched all the local photographers and boudoir companies she could find but once she saw Cheryl’s website, she knew her search was over. Ms. J was immediately struck by the photos on the site calling them “amazing and beautiful.” After being drawn in by the remarkable imagery, she began reading through what Cheryl wrote regarding the process and the many client reviews and she was completely sold.

Ms. J’s boudoir shoot is going to be a gift for her husband for their 24th wedding anniversary. That’s right, TWENTY FORTH (applause)! After recently loosing 60lbs., Ms. J’s husband was encouraging her to be and feel sexy and she thought a boudoir shoot would be a perfect way to do just that.

Although Ms. J has felt self conscious about her appearance, she found the entire experience with Belle Boudoir to be “absolutely amazing.” When we asked her what her most memorable moments of her day with us were, she answered by saying that “Starting my day with Nikoma and how welcome she made me feel. I usually do not wear much make-up at all and told her that I definitely wanted something more dramatic, I was so impressed with how my make-up and hair looked” and that “the photos were fun and Cheryl made (her) feel so relaxed.”

On her anniversary, Ms. J presented her husband with the photo book from her boudoir session and ” he was so surprised not only that I would have the pictures taken but by the quality of the pictures. He kept telling my how “hot” I looked. The pictures actually brought tears to his eyes. This was by far our best anniversary so far.

Oil Pulling

Oil PullingOil Pulling is a growing trend that you may have heard of and possibly considered trying. But is swishing coconut oil around in your mouth for 20min really worth it? According to Jessica T. Emery, DMD, recent studies have shown that the ancient oral therapy known as “oil pulling helps against gingivitis, plaque, and microorganisms that cause bad breath.” Not to mention the whitening effects that oil pulling fanatics everywhere have claimed.

Although you can use a few different oils for oil pulling, coconut oil comes the most recommended because it contains lauric acid, an anti-microbial agent that makes it the preferred choice. Recent studies have also shown that coconut oil may also prevent tooth decay. With all of those benefits you can be sure to count me in!

You don’t have to jump straight to swishing around the oil for 20min. You can work your way up in 5 minute increments. Just remember that the longer you pull, the more benefits you will reap.

How To Oil Pull:

  1.  Put 1 tablespoon of coconut oil directly into your mouth
  2.  Gently swish and squish the oil all around your teeth, tongue, gums, and in between your teeth for 5-20min depending on your tolerance
  3. Do not swallow the oil
  4. When time is up, spit the oil into the garbage can not down the sink as it may clog your drain
  5. Sit back and enjoy the benefits
