Keeping The Romance Alive

I recently had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful 67 year old woman in the Belle Boudoir photo studios. When Miss C’s husband of 50 (yes, FIFTY!) years asked her for a picture, she decided to surprise him with a collection of boudoir photos from Belle Boudoir. A much better decision than the typical selfie most of us would give. When Miss C was 16 years old, the year was 1947. She lived in Seattle and attended Garfield High School with Jimi Hendrix. One summer afternoon she was washing her car on Alki and when she saw a young man she thought she knew, she started waving. It just so happened that her now husband was driving by at that exact time and thought she was waving at him. Naturally he was captivated by her beauty and couldn’t help but pull over and talk to her. That innocent conversation started a lifelong commitment between a young couple who, for religious and social reasons, were not expected to marry. Their love has stood the test of time far beyond what most of us could fathom. I think little surprises, such as her session at Belle Boudoir, probably doesn’t hurt when it comes to keeping the romance alive in a 50 year relationship.

Moisturize!

Do you know what the number one most important thing is for maintaining healthy, youthful, and luminous skin? MOISTURE! Dry skin looks dull, lifeless, and ages at an accelerated rate. No matter your skin type, it is important to moisturize your skin 1-2 times per day. Even if you have oily skin it is important to moisturize on a daily basis because while your skin may overproduce oil, that does not mean that it is hydrated and skin needs hydration. Look for a moisturizer that has humectants that will pull moisture out of the air and lock it into your skin. Also check to ensure that your moisturizer is non-comedogenic and non-acneogenic so that it does not clog your pores.

Leading up to your shoot with Belle Boudoir, it is best not to try a new moisturizer within 1 week before the scheduled date so that you can ensure you won’t have a reaction that may be bothersome on the big day.

For suggestions on the best moisturizer for your skin, visit your local retailer and ask a skin care expert.

We can’t wait to see your beautifully hydrated skin at Belle Boudoir!

A Fairy Tale Story

It’s hard to believe that this beautiful woman didn’t have her first boyfriend until college but Miss J was too focused on sports in high school to pay attention to boys. It wasn’t until her early college years that she met her now husband. He was her first, and she was his. *le sigh* The two dated through college and eventually committed to matrimonial bliss. They have been married for 10 years now (an entire decade!) and have two incredible little girls. A true fairy tale story.

For Christmas last year, Miss J gave her husband a gift certificate to Belle Boudoir (aka The Best Gift Any Woman Can Give!). With two small children at home, it took a few months to schedule the appointment but we finally got to have Miss J in studio for her boudoir session! After her photoshoot, she met up with her husband and they viewed and picked out their favorite photos together.

Although the gift was originally for Miss J’s husband, I think it may have turned out to be a bit of a gift for her as well.

Lovely Lashes

What style lashes are best for your photoshoot with Belle Boudoir: Natural, False Strip, Individual, or Extensions? Let me help you decide! An important thing to know is that your natural lashes will not show up in a photo unless it is a close up. For that reason, I recommend using some sort of falsies to emphasize your natural lashes so that they show in your photos. So which ones are best for you?

Individual lashes: These are the way to go for the MOST natural look. I can place the individual lashes in between the natural lashes to create a slightly fuller and longer lash look that is so natural even you won’t be able to tell.

Strip lashes: Strip lashes come in many shapes, lengths, and sizes and we can work together to pick the perfect pair to flatter your look. The majority of the women you see in our galleries are wearing strip lashes.

Lash extensions: If you are planning to get lash extensions for your shoot at Belle Boudoir, I typically recommend to forego them. Lash extensions do not hold shape the same way that individual or strip lashes do and can sometimes look separated and messy in the photos. While extensions are a great option for everyday glamour, I don’t consider them to be the best option for your photoshoot.

The picture below is of our beautiful client from yesterday, Miss H. She can be seen here wearing a medium sized strip lash.
