Client Testimonial: Facial Oil!

A little over a year ago, I wrote a post about facial oil and explained why oil cleansers and moisturizers are good for every skin type (post is below), not just dry skin. While I know that lots of women read our blogs and take the advice to heart, it is always a great feeling when you hear a testimonial from a woman who said that a post we wrote “changed (her) life,” or in this case “changed (her) skin.”

We recently had a client in the studio who had beautifully healthy skin – both in texture and in moisture level. When I asked her what she did to maintain her skin, she told me that after reading the original facial oil post, she purchased two products from the Boots No7 line that have literally changed her skin. The client said that since she began using the below facial oil combination from the aforementioned brand, she has had the best skin of her life.

Don’t take it from me, but from a true client testimonial: Facial Oil helps create and maintain beautiful, healthy, and supple skin.

Original Post:

As a long time makeup artist and lover of all things skin, I have always had a deep love for facial oils. They help to minimize the appearance of pores, break down makeup on the skin like nothing else, reduce inflammation, and penetrate deep into the skin to give it the moisture that it craves. Facial oils help your skin to look fresh, youthful, and dewy (the good kind of dewy!). Today’s facial oils are not the mineral oils of the past, they are made from essential oils and therefore, there is one out there for every type of skin. Most of my clients with a more oily skin type, consider facial oil to be their nemesis. What they don’t know is that facial oil, is in fact, one of the best things for their skin because oil attracts oil and therefore it is able to penetrate deeper into your pores to clean and moisturize better. Below I will explain how to properly use both cleansing oils and moisturizing oils:

Cleansing Oil: Pour a nickel sized amount of product into your palm and massage into your skin without adding water. You can use facial cleansing oils to remove your makeup as well to make cleansing a one step process. Remove using a warm, wet washcloth. Once your skin is clean and dry, you can move on to apply any toners, serums, and moisturizers to finish your routine.

Moisturizing Oil: One to three drops of oil is all you need to get the proper amount of moisture. A little bit goes a long way! Warm the drops of oil between your fingers and gently massage into your skin working in a downward and outward direction. Allow the oil to absorb into the skin before applying makeup or laying down for bed so that you get the full benefit of the product.

To find out the best kind of cleansing or moisturizing oil for your skin type, talk to your local beauty consultant. The Nordstrom Beauty Stylist is always a great person to consult if you don’t work with someone already. 🙂

5 Steps to False Lashes

 5 Steps to False Lashes

If you want them, false lashes are included in every makeup application at Belle Boudoir. They help to open up the eyes and make them look larger and add a little drama for the camera. There are a lot of women who want to try them for their photoshoot but haven’t worn them before and therefore, don’t know what to expect. So, this post goes out to all of you!

Step One: You and your makeup artist will choose a lash style based on how much drama you want to achieve and the shape and size of your eyes.

Step Two: Your makeup artist will trim the length of the strip that the individual lashes are attached to in order to make the lashes fit your eyes and apply a thin layer of eyelash glue to the remaining strip

Step Three: After a few seconds of allowing the glue to dry to a tacky texture, the lashes will be applied to your eyes while you are looking straight down at the floor. The glue will feel a bit wet at first and you will likely see a gray haze in your upper peripheral. The more dramatic lashes often feel a little heavy. But be assured that after about 20min, most women forget that they are on!

Step Four: You will have mascara applied to your natural lashes to blend them with the falsies.

Step Five: To remove your lashes, simply grab the outer corner and gently pull. The entire strip of lashes will peel off easily leaving no damage to your natural lashes behind.

Pearls and Panties

 Pearls and Panties

You finally got up the nerve to book your session with Belle Boudoir and now you want to make sure you have the perfect wardrobe for the best shoot possible, and we understand! We certainly recommend that you bring in a few bra and panty sets since we cannot keep those items stocked in our studio, but other than that, we can take care of you. And don’t forget that sometimes the most sexy outfit you can wear is a pair of panties and a string of pearls. After all, less truly is more is boudoir.

Lipstick for Whiter Teeth

 Lipstick for Whiter Teeth

You have done everything to prepare for your session with Belle Boudoir – sugared here, exfoliated there, spent an extra 20 minutes in the gym each day. You’ve even skipped your normal tanning routine and had your nails painted a neutral color as recommended by photographer Cheryl Jones. The one thing you feel that you haven’t quite reached your goal on is teeth whitening, and that is A-OK!

Did you know that there are certain lipstick and lipgloss colors that actually make your teeth look whiter? Well, it’s true! Any lipstick or gloss with a nice blue undertone will make your teeth look moviestar white. So make sure to discuss it with your makeup artist before your hair and makeup session at Belle Boudoir begins. She will never guide you in the wrong direction!
