How to Prepare Your Naturally Curly Hair for Styling

Curly hair is stunning, but knowing how to prep it for styling can be a bit tricky. Whether you’re aiming for big, bouncy curls or a defined, natural look, the right prep can make all the difference. Here’s a quick guide to getting your curly hair ready for styling prior to your boudoir sesion, leaving you with a gorgeous, picture-perfect result.

  1. Clean & Dry Hair is Key First things first: arrive with clean, dry hair. Clean hair helps products work better and ensures that your style will hold it’s shape throughout the day. Too much oil or product in your hair can cause it to be resistant to styling and have a generally weighed down appearance.
  2. Use a Little Curl Cream for Naturally Curly Styles If you’re going for a more natural curly style, don’t be afraid to use a bit of curl cream. This will help define your curls and keep frizz at bay without weighing them down. Just be sure to use a light hand so your curls stay bouncy and fresh and will still be receptive to heat styling.
  3. Straighten or Blow Out for Loose, Bouncy Curls If you’re dreaming of big, loose curls, consider straightening or blowing out your hair first. This can give your hair a smooth, polished base, making it easier to create voluminous curls that last. You’ll have that flawless, smooth texture that lets curls pop beautifully.
  4. Bring Photos for Inspiration Whether you’re aiming for tight ringlets or soft waves, it’s always helpful to have a visual reference. Get inspired by scrolling through Pinterest for curly styles you love, and bring a couple of photos with you for inspiration. This ensures you get the exact look you’re going for, making the styling process easier and more fun.

With these simple tips, prepping your curly hair for styling becomes an easy and enjoyable part of the process. Embrace those curls, add a little product where needed, and let your stylist work their magic!

Glasses in Boudoir Photos: A Cute and Confident Choice

If you wear glasses every day, you might wonder if you should keep them on for your boudoir photo shoot. The answer? Absolutely! It is important that you feel like yourself! Glasses can be a fun and empowering personalization for your session. Let’s break down the pros and cons:

Pros:

  1. Stay True to You: Your glasses are part of your unique look. Wearing them during your shoot allows you to feel like yourself while capturing your natural beauty. It’s a great way to celebrate what makes you, well, you.
  2. Cute Accessory: Glasses can be a playful prop! They add personality and charm to the photos, giving you a little extra flair. Whether you’re peeking over the top or adjusting them with a sultry look, they can really elevate the vibe.
  3. Confidence Boost: If you feel more confident in your glasses, they’ll naturally bring out your best side. When you’re comfortable, your confidence shines through in every shot.

Cons:

  1. Potential Reflections: Sometimes, glasses can create reflections that might distract from the photo. But with a skilled photographer, this can usually be avoided by adjusting lighting and angles.
  2. Smudges and Sliding: Glasses can occasionally slip down your nose or get fingerprints on them. But a quick wipe or adjustment can keep everything looking pristine.

Overall, wearing glasses in your boudoir session can be a fun, confident choice that reflects your true self. Whether it’s your everyday accessory or a statement of your personality, embrace your glasses and let them shine!

His Favorite Shirt

When it comes to preparing for your boudoir session, every detail counts in making your photos truly special. One unexpected but incredibly meaningful prop to consider is your partner’s favorite button down, t-shirt, or jersey. It might seem like a small touch, but here’s why it can add a whole lot of magic to your shoot:

1. A Personal Touch

Incorporating your partner’s shirt into your boudoir session adds a deeply personal touch to your photos. It’s more than just an accessory—it’s a piece of clothing that carries sentimental value and a sense of connection. Wearing it during your session brings a part of your partner’s presence into the frame, making the images even more intimate and personal.

2. Creates Intimacy

A shirt from your partner can evoke a sense of closeness and warmth, capturing the essence of your relationship. It’s like having a physical reminder of your bond right there with you, enhancing the intimate atmosphere of the session. This touch of intimacy helps you feel more at ease and connected, which translates beautifully into your photos.

3. Unique and Memorable

Let’s face it—boudoir sessions are all about making a statement and celebrating your unique style. Your partner’s shirt is a distinctive prop that adds a special, memorable element to your shoot. It’s not something you see in every boudoir photo, making it a standout feature that will give your images a personal and unforgettable touch.

4. Adds a Sentimental Element

Beyond the aesthetic appeal, using your partner’s shirt brings a sentimental element to your boudoir session. It’s a tangible piece of your shared life and experiences, adding a layer of depth and emotion to your photos. These aren’t just any images; they’re a reflection of your relationship and the love you share.

Conclusion

Bringing your partner’s shirt to your boudoir session is a beautifully simple way to infuse your photos with personal significance and emotional depth. It adds a unique, memorable touch that makes the session even more special and intimate. Even if it’s 3 sizes too big, photographer Cheryl Jones has a few tricks up her sleeve to make it look super sexy. So, grab that favorite shirt, and let it become a cherished part of your boudoir story, making your photos truly one-of-a-kind.
